A Three-Day Tour: Marrakech to Fes:
1st Day: From Marrakech – Skoura Oases – Boumalene Dades
The first day begins with your breakfast in your accommodation. We start from Marrakech to the Dades Valley. We move through Tizi-n-Tishka/The Pass of Tichka in the high Atlas Mountains. We tend to pause to highly appreciate the mountain views and take some photos of. Later, we visit Ait Ben Haddou village, which is categorized by UNESCO as a world heritage. It is known as a background for many films, inter alia Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator and Alexander. We take lunch here before we continue our path. We slowly enjoy the natural beauty of the landscapes and cultural monuments as Taourirt Kasbah and Roses Valley. This is renowned for the Festival of Roses. We again pass through the little Berber villages of Skoura and ‘El Kelaa N M’Gouna(Castle of Mgoun)’ and Boumalene Dades. The latter is the last destination today. We stay overnight in a hotel which encompasses dinner and breakfast.
2nd Day: From Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Merzouga.
Boumalene Dades is the starting point today. We drive to the Merzouga town. Through the Berber villages of Tinghir we visit Todra Gorge. We leave Todra passing through many Berber villages to pass through Tinjdad, a meeting point of many other paths. It’s up to you if lunch is needed or if you prefer to continue to Rissani. In this city, you could have the local food, Berber Pizza, Lmadfuna for lunch. So yummy is this lunch. We get our way to Merzouga; whereby, we leave our luggage in a complete safety.
Another page of your life book could be turned today. We ride the camel to a Berber camp in the middle of the dunes of Erg Chebbi. In it, there is one of the largest dunes in Morrocco, Erg Chebbi. To be specific, it is widely known as the highest and largest sand dunes in North Africa. It is a unique and diverse environment. The camel riding takes 1hr 30 min from the hotel to the camp, where we continue the spirit of the nomadic Berber lifestyle. Then we set up three Berber tents with supplementary restaurant and kitchen with basic facilities. This unique vibe is full of exotic features. The tents are usually well equipped such as mattresses, blankets, and cushions to meet your high expectations. Dinner is not the end of the eventful day. We still can gather round the fire and enjoy the desert night perhaps with traditional Berber drums.
