7-Day Trekking Itinerary from Marrakech to Tagdilt and Beyond

This trekking tour begins with an early departure from Marrakech towards Ouarzazate via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka pass. You will explore the Dades Valley, renowned for its thousand kasbahs, and continue south across a desert plateau to the village of Tagdilt, where you will spend the night at a local’s home at 1650 meters altitude after approximately 6 hours of driving.

The next day starts with watching the mules being loaded before crossing a vast plateau towards the Tizi N’iferd pass at 2400 meters, offering spectacular views of the central High Atlas massif. You will then descend to the Iferd plateau and set up camp on a plateau frequented by semi-nomadic Ait Atta tribes, spending the night in tents at 2250 meters after about 5.5 hours of walking.

On day three, the journey continues with a beautiful climb to the Kouaouck Summit at 2600 meters, a non-technical ascent. After a picnic prepared by your cook, you will descend through Tassegdilt, camping in the village of Igli at 1700 meters after another 5.5 hours of hiking.

Day four involves descending through the Afourar valley, gradually entering dramatic gorges, passing by the small Bouallouz oasis, and reaching the vast plateau dominated by the peaks of Bab n’Ali. The group climbs to the famous Bab n’Ali gate before continuing to the oasis of Ighazzoun, where you will spend the night in tents after 5 hours of walking.

The fifth day begins around 8:30 a.m. with a trek towards the Tifdassine pass, followed by lunch under almond trees in the valley. The path leads to the village of Handour, where you will stay overnight in a local lodge after about 5 hours of walking.

On the final day, after bidding farewell to the mule team, the journey continues to the town of Nkob and then to Agdez before crossing back over the Tizi n’Tichka pass, enjoying lunch after the pass, and arriving in Marrakech in the afternoon, completing approximately 7 hours of transfer.
