1st Day: From Marrakech via Ait Benhaddou to Dades valley
We pick you up in Marrakesh where you book your accommodation. The first day we set off for the Dades Gorges. We pass through Tizi n Tishka in the high Atlas Mountains. We then visit the UNESCO World heritage Site, Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. The latter has also been the background for several films including Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator and Alexander. After lunch we enjoy the beautiful natural landscapes and historical monuments of Taourirt Kasbah in Ourzazate, Skoura and the valley of the Roses, famous for its annual Festival of Roses. We also pass through the Berber villages of El Kelaa N M’Gouna/the castle of ImGoun and Boumalene Dades. Here we spend the night.
2nd Day: From Dades Valley via Todra Gorge to Merzouga
Today’s destination is to reach Merzouga. It is known for the highest sand dunes in North Africa. The desert is an integral part of Morocco’s nature. It is called Erg Chebbi Sahara desert and it is a unique, multifaceted environment. On our way, we have the chance to see many oases such as Tinjdad oasis. Our guide is to continue our tour going through the Berber towns of Mellab and Touroug. Then we arrive to Rissani, where we usually have lunch. This break is nearly 30 mins. We keep on our way to enjoy the green oasis of palm trees of Ziz –Tafilalet prior to arriving to Merzouga. Later, we enjoy bathing in the warm waters and we have a local dinner so that we can listen to Berber music respectively. Overnight is in a Riad.
3rd Day: Merzouga, Culture and Tradition
As usual, breakfast is the first thing. You go all the way round the dunes via the oasis of Merzouga, Khamlia village. It is locally called the Black village. It is named so because of the symbolic meaning of the color for locals. You visit the Gnawa people to enjoy their music and lifestyle. The lake of Merzouga is not far away from there, with its bird populations. You leave for Rissani or historically-named Sijilmassa. This was the meeting place for the salt caravans, descending from Timbuktu in Mali. So, you walk through the souk, selling spices, vegetables and cloths. The lunch is a form of the Berber pizza, lmadfuna in Rissani. our way continues to start our camel trek in Merzouga. Then you travel back to your accommodation where your camel is awaiting you. After a glass of mint tea, all luggages are left at the hotel. The 90 minutes of camel trekking takes us to a Berber camp in the middle of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. It is the highest in North Africa.The evening includes dinner followed by entertainment animated by Berber drums.
4th Day: From Merzouga to Ouarzazate
The sunrise over there is worthy of noticing. That is why you are meant to get up and climb the sand dunes for seizing the pictures opportunities. Our guide then makes your way back to the hotel to take a shower and breakfast. Later on, our journey lasts to Ouarzazate, via Alnif centre, Tazzarine city, Nkob town, and the Draa Valley. It is called the longest river in Morocco. We spend the night in a guest house in Ouarzazate.
5th Day: From Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Breakfast precedes everything. Then we drive towards Marrakech, passing through the spectacular high Atlas Mountains. Our journey lasts through Tizi ‘n’ Tichka (the Pass of tichka).
